Okay so now that Squirt is back to himself and his UTI has cleared up, Buddy now has diarrhea. He is currently away from the rest of the group and is on the same antibiotics that I had Squirt on (and my cat Bubby is still on). At any rate, my question is how come Buddy is eating his diarrhea? Actually, he's licking it up afterwards. Kinda gross if you ask me. Ewwww!!! He seems to be about 75% himself otherwise-eating and drinkin normally and chewing. His eyes seem a bit droopy though.

Now that they have diarrhea, you should give them any 'fresh' food, eg. salads,tomatos,cucumbers... I just had 3 young gerbs which had diarrhea. I stopped giving them fresh food, I put lots of hay too (to get fiber) and diarrhea was gone in less than week. They didn't have antibiotics.

I dunno about giving Buddy "fresh" fruits or vegetables. I read that if your gerbil has diarrhea to not give any fresh fruits or veggies until after the diarrhea bout has cleared up. Prior to this, Buddy wasn't given any fruits or veggies. Just a yogert chip as a treat 3 days ago. I'm having a difficult time giving Buddy his medicine-even with my husband's help. It still ends up on the top of my hand and he won't take any water either from the syringe. He's looking rather rough. I would say he's no where near to being himself today. And why is he licking everything??
