For the past day and a half my gerbil has been very weak when she tries to stand up. She is sleeping almst constantly and when she is awake she isn't eating or drinking like she normally does. Im baffled as to what happened and it was very sudden. If you can offer any help it would be greatl appreciated.

Check her teeth - may be ingrown. She may have also possibly suffered a stroke. How old is she?

"Doomgerbil" posted photos of gerbil teeth here: gerbilforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=health&action=display&thread=1139721779If her mouth is swollen, I would suspect overgrown and ingrown teeth. Perhaps her mouth has become infected (if the teeth have grown into the opposite jaw). Regarding prune juice--in my opinion (and I'm not a vet , if you don't know what you're doing, it's best to do nothing. You may be choosing a "remedy" that is the exact opposite of what your gerbil needs. Dehydration and intestinal impaction are two different things... why do you suspect them? Hope everything is going well and she gets better soon!
