So a like a week ago, I gave my gerbils almonds for the first time. Just a tiny piece I broke off one. I stuck my hand into the cage and fed them a little bit each.I could tell they liked it so I gave then a little bit more. Suddenly, my larger gerbil leaped up at the almond in my hand trying to get it Honestly, to describe it, it's like feeding time in the piranha tank! They love it so much. Anyway, Suzy stole the whole almond out of my hand and I had to grab her and steal it back. Flora, accidentally bit my finger really hard trying to get the almond so I'm a bit more cautious when coming in between a gerbil and her almond. They don`t do this for any other food so I`m a bit miffed.. Seriously does anyone else notice your gerbils going crazy for almonds?? Another time, I made a terrible mistake and left a beautiful little dolls dress too close to the cage and (you can probably guess) it got pulled in and destroyed. I mean it looks like it went through a paper shredder! I found them trying to pull it up to their nest. ibb.co/gx3hen The same thing happened with a plastic food bag, which they shredded and then the silly little things pulled it up to bed. I spent ages trying to pull all that out of their bed. Of course, now for a great toy to keep them busy, I stuff a bit of paper towel into the bars of the cage and they pull it through for fun. Usually with some treats stuffed up in it too. Another time, I forgot to put the water bottle in to the cage after cleaning for a few hours (terrible I know!) so when I put it back in, there was a mad rush for the water bottle and they kept pushing each other and shoving (they`re supposed to be desert animals??) and drank a whole bunch. Another time I left the cage open (ack I'm so terrible!) and Suzy hopped out. I was watching a movie at the time and I looked down and there she was watching TV with me just as calm as ever. Sorry for writing so much I should stop now lol Hope you enjoyed!
