I got a little Mottled Burmese, and her sister (a BEW.... FINALLY!! YAY! ;D) and the burmese, now named "Pig" or "Piggy" has a huge pig like shout. There was some care fresh, corn cob and whatever wood bedding Sandy brought them down on.
I figured it was the care fresh. I put them on some corn cob, some wood shavings (not aspen, but not cedar or pine either.... some 'aromatic free' stuff that i was given, seems to be good stuff) Also some tissue. She's been on it for 3 days now, and her nose seems to be getting smaller. Not sure if it was the carefresh, or the wood.... I'm still guessing carefresh, since Sandy was obviously using the wood shavings at her place....

You sure she didn't get a bite on her nose? She's been raised on that stuff and never showed a reaction before. But if you recently intro'd her to someone that might be the problem.

My siamese male is allergic to carefresh, so it is a possibility.

See..... that's why I was thinking it's the carefresh, not the wood shavings. No, Sandy, she has not been introduced to anything before her nose happened. yes, she was in a wire cage, but it's not the bald spot on the top of her nose, or the underside like you'd see from wire chewing. (as you know I have 2 wire cage toppers, and so I have seen bald noses once!) But this is different... it's around her nostrills, and she squeeks when she breathes, and she sneezes too. The reddness has gone down some since I put her on this other mixture.... and now she's in a split with 2 other young girls. She has a scab on the side of her nostril, and it's big.... but I figured that it was carefresh, not the wood.... I knew that they had probably grwon up on some ammount of that wood shavings Sandy... I think it was carefresh, becaues now they're on some corncob, aspen, toilet tissue, cardboard and that other wood. (not cedar, not pine, not aspen....) hum... I've never heard of an allergy to carefresh.... poor Miss Piggy!
