Heya....
My Furrbie had a second sudden nose bleed this afternoon while he was grooming himself.... It's profuse bleeding where u can see him trying to breath with his mouth and sneezing out the blood and splattering it everywhere...... It's the first time I feel so helpless for I can't do anything for him. I thought he was going to die!
I haven't changed anything in his tank, used the same bedding and accessories. The bleeding finally stopped and he was exhausted and fell asleep. Later the day, he got up and cleaned himself. I've moved him into quarantine and hopes he dosent pass on anything to my other 2 males, Chubbie n Kent.
I think Furrbie smells a little bad too. Oh... He's my first gerb rescued from SPCA. Sigh... he recently lost his teeth and I hand fed him for a week. He's so sweet too. I hope he recovers.

Gosh that could be a million things! None very good i am thinking. Anyway you could get him to a vet? If it's possible I would do it ASAP.
Poor lil guy! I had a REALLy bad nosebleed once and it's very scary!
I dont really want to speculate on what he may have, because that can be scary. But a vet would be able to call it...Being a rescue, you have no idea what that poor lil guy went through. If he has had series of issues since you got him, it dont sound promising but sometimes these lil critters can pull some darn near miraculous stunts! Just keep him as comfy and warm as possible... It could be anything from allergies(though I have never heard of any that severe) to pneumonia to cancer... unfortunatly... but like i said if you can get him to a vet or even if the SPCA vet may take a look at him for free since you got him there, it's worth a shot! Maybe some good antibiotics would help him...just wish i could help! I'm not a vet student/ or gerbil specialist, just got a lot of miles with animals in general.
Keep us posted!
