Absolutely correct youy do NOT pick gerbisl up by their tails. What we are talking about is this you hold the tail at the base and lift them up to look at their rear end. The gerbils weight is fully supported (even if she does look quite insulted). Our model here is Magpie, a particularly skinny gerbil who I really wish would put on soem weight

Or maybe I should take the pics I have done for this purpose (handling, giving meds etc) and make a seperate post. any requests for additional pictures first?

breeding is a serious responsibility though and you'll have to make sure that you find homes for all the pups! the breeder should've split the boys and girls before 6 weeks (female gerbils can become pregnant at just 7 weeks), so if the breeder is good, your gerbil shouldn't be pregnant. does her stomach look bloated at all?? the cause for the wetness on the tummy will probably due to some other ailment, but still, pregnancy is a possibility...

She can't be pregnant - you said the pups were together until 9 weeks and yet I think I read somewhere you saying she's about 3 months old. And I don't think wetness under the belly would signify pregnancy; I didn't notice it with Grace, unless anyone else has?
