How long has she been doing that? Hold her on your hand with her tummy on your palm...if she's due you may feel pusp moving. If you think you she may be pregnant then clear the tank of wheel and most toys. Leave a house and some white tissue for bedding. No fibres please as these can get tangled round pups limbs and cause amputation. Give her extra protein, dry catfood is good.

Most gerbils won't try to 'escape' unless you or someone else scares them. Once she's in your hands, let her 'walk' on your hands and arms. Just corral her back in the direction you want her to go. Use your hands as moving walls to re-direct her. They also love and need "people-time", so it's good to pick them up for a while every day.
If you're worried about her getting loose, try moving the cage to your bed first. If she gets loose on the bed, most gerbils won't jump down to the floor (too far down) and she'll probably take a good long look before she even thinks about jumping. I let mine 'run around' on me while I'm sitting on my recliner, and it's only a few feet off the ground at the feet. If you close the bedroom door first (stuff the bottom crack with a towel if needed), then that also limits where she could possibly go if she escapes... but most gerbils will stay on your hands/arms or crawl up to the shoulders.
Once she's comfortable on you support her front side and gently lift her back side up as in Doom's picture.
If she's been away from her cagemates for at least 5 weeks, she should not be pregnant.

Pip is much happier. Fur isn't damp looking anymore and she is more lively. She has made herself a nice cosy little nest and is snuggled up in it at the moment.
(posted by Pipgerb's mum!) I'm sure Pipgerb will keep you posted on how she is but things are definitely looking better - thanks for all the help/advice.

aw thats great. I'm really glad to hear she is feeling better. It could have just been digestive problems from too much cabbage as well.

It's good to know Pip is doing okay. But if didn't know already, people under 13 are not allowed on this forum without parental consent, due to (inter)national laws.
PM forthcoming.
