I don't know how to attatch an image here so i'll just describe them. One of my gerbils is pale grey with a little bit of black on the tip of his tail and what looks like black ticking on his back. His belly is all white and his eyes are black. Is he Polar Fox? My other one is orange, i think his belly is orange too and he has maybe a tiny bit of brown ticking down his back? I had a gerbil that was nutmeg and his shade is ligther than hers was.

Hey there! Without seeing a picture, the gray one sounds like a possible Grey Agouti with the white belly. The other sounds like it could be an Argente Golden, but usually they don't have any ticking, is there a hint of gray in the fur under the coat? If not, it's possible then that you have a either a Nutmeg that hasn't fully come into its coat yet, or a Light Nutmeg.
Are they young or old enough to have fully molted into their fur colors?
Thanks!

ok! the grey one is the one in my profile picture, how do I attach a picture? They are still very young so they haven't molted yet. The orange one doesn't have any grey I don't think. I think he might be a light nutmeg then! Thanks!

From what I can see of the picture, yup, looks like a grey Agouti to me as Polar Fox and Silver Nutmeg are Self colors and have ticking through-out and no white belly.
Here is a Picture of one of my Nutmeg boys, AWW Dapper "Rogue". Is this what your other one looks like but lighter?
Also, first picture in my signature bar is a young Nutmeg, under 9 weeks of age, who us just starting to molt. You can see it starting at his nose.
Its still possible it could be a Light Nutmeg, but best to wait and see after they finish molting.
I should take a picture of my WA/AWW Riordan Moonclaw. He's a Light Nutmeg that carries the c(h) and e(f) genes. His orange-ish/caramel body color is faded and his ticking is barely noticeable at all because of carrying both those genes. In order to post pictures, you will need to create an account on Imgur or Photobucket and upload the pictures and resize them if needed. Then you copy the BBCode into the body of your post and it will show up!
