How sensitive are gerbils to draft? I don't want any of my gerbils to get a respiratory infection. I know they need a temperature of about20-25 degrees C. Can I open a window if it's warm outside? I once forgot to close the window for 30 minutes and I was so worrie, because my gerbil Simon seemed to be coughing but it was just false alarm!

I agree with Doom It's not so much the draft, but how different it is in temperature to the rest of the room. Fresh air wouldn't do them any harm (had mine out in my garden this weekend, and they loved it ;D ) it's just I wouldn't put my girls near a permanent draft, same with all small furries I think.
