Hello, one of my gerbils has taken a liken to gnawing at the metal bars of her home quite often, she climbs right to the top and practically dangles so she can chew on a certain corner! I'm currently in the process of saving up to get her and her sister a bigger, nicer home (one without metal bars) as I understand this can be damaging to their teeth & mouths (as I'm still a student it's sadly taking me quite a while to get the funds together) - so in the mean time I wanted to know is there anything I can put in the area she gnaws on to prevent her from doing it/protect her teeth and mouth?

Hey there! Yeeeaahhh... ANY thing they can reach ends up being fair game for chewing.
Make sure you have a lot of cardboard tubes and safe wooden chews for them to occupy their time with. Otherwise, I've never had mine in wire cages, so not sure what can be used.
I've tried using a little real lemon juice to coat on things to deter them from chewing what I didn't want them to, but it worked only a few days.
Hopefully someone else might have some ideas!
