Homemade gerbil treats?

I was wondering if anyone has made gerbil treats before? It's their birthday soon and I wanted to give them something special

Yes! I've made a lot of treats for Jett. He gets them way more than store-bought treats. If you look up gerbil (or even hamster treats, because there's quite a bit of those online too) treat recipes, there's a lot of good ones there! (I always double check the ingredients just in case, though ). Most of the videos will tell you in the description what animals they're safe for

(Pancakes- Jett liked them! I didn't follow the exact recipe and I forget what I did now... but he really enjoys pancakes)

(The pastry bit in this one is PERFECT. I added a drop of honey in it, too, and Jett went wild for it. But I didn't have strawberries, so I just thawed like, 2 frozen blueberries and then mashed them up and scooped them inside. For all the decorations I just cut some shapes out of carrots and green beans. This was my most recent treat for Jett and he was so happy with it! I like this recipe because you can really do whatever with it.)

(I tried this, too! I loved making it. The gerbils didn't touch it. )


And this is just the tip of the iceberg!
I cook for Jett more than I cook for myself.... But it's such a fun activity to do for them and with them. Give your babies some birthday love from us!!

My gerbils love dried carrot slices, which I buy, but you can make them too. I found some instructions here (https://www.thespruceeats.com/drying-carrots-oven-method-1327540). This method would probably work for other vegetables and fruits too, such as beetroot, sweet peppers etc.

I've seen in some hamster groups some people make treat toys by sticking lots of seeds and nuts onto some cardboard with flour paste.

With my gerbils, I find they love simple things best. Some dried mealworms, plain oats or pumpkin seeds always go down well. For a special treat, mine get a bit of toast or cheese, and for an extra special treat they've had live locusts in the past.
