I was handling pippin, about to put her in this shoe box which I use for when I want the gerbils with me upstairs... Not realising there were some lavender buds on the shoe box (from a craft project) I let her run around on the shoe box. She went straight to the lavender and started nibbling them. It was only a few buds but I've heard that they're bad for gerbils. Is she going to be okay?

I don't think lavender is poisonous, it's just the oil that can be irritating which is why it's not a good idea to have, for example, reed diffusers near a gerbil cage. The amount of oil in a few buds would probably be fine though. I know Rodipet sell a sand with ground up lavender flowers in, and they are a reputable company. I'm sure they wouldn't sell that kind of sand if there was any problem with lavender. Pippin is most likely going to be fine, but as always, get her to a vet if you notice any symptoms.
