Yes, I thought as much - but we never really can know the long term effects of the 'wrong' or unbalanced diets - so I suppose if you are happy to have gerbils as pets for as long as you have them - then the percentages don't matter as much.
If however you are looking for a longevity balance in breeding stock vs human preferences and enjoyment in a pet then that may be where the percentages are more of a factor. I mean treating a pet with yummy food and treats is part of why we love our pets and how we bond with them, isn't it? But in a breeding or lab setting, this isn't the biggest factor.
Still intersting to find out more about foods in general anyway.
