So many have said that a different photo app is recommended, but I do not want to switch that. Any chance you could change this to just a “select photo” button? It would be very convenient for me, and I am sure others as well.

I don’t think that they will be changing this any time soon. I just use Imgur and put my photo in and then copy the forum link I can send pictures of me doing it but my laptop is in repairs right now. I don’t even use a Imgur account I am just not signed in and it worked perfectly fine.

Yea direct upload to the forum would be nice, but it uses a lot of storage on their servers (think 100s, if not 1000s of users over many years), hence most forums want a link to an external site. Btw, you don't have to switch to Imgur completely, you could just use it for select photos you want to show here. What they could do which would make it easier for us, and not add to their storage requirements is to allow google photos to be shown here, I've seen it done at other forums! .... darn it does work! lol, so instead of copying the link from 'create link', once you've clicked on the photo (and you get the black borders), then right click it, select 'copy image location' and paste that into the 'insert image' icon in the advanced options (labelled by just the 'Reply' button here, which btw doesn't reply!). Maybe Shooting Star could add this to their 'how to' post? That's Blake btw , and that's not his main cage, just a holding cage sat next to their main tank (they like to venture there when 1/2 the lid is off). Oh and I believe he is your favourite colour, Agouti!

And yet using 'create link's shared links into 'insert image', gives you nothing, like below, weird! Even using the img ![]() tag (with []) doesn't work. e.g

If you can tell me what setting to change to allow google photos on proboards, I'll change it, but I don't have the time to research stuff like that. I'm literally only admin because everybody else in charge left, back when I had free time, and I didn't want the forum to die.

No setting needs to be changed on the proboards Just a short set of instructions to add to your thread "This is how to post photos"!! in your sig, as per my previous post. It's not obvious how to get Google photos here due to the oddities of this forum and possibly Google photos site too. Anyway, these instructions are what's needed to post Google photos to this forum (from Windows, tested on Win10), feel free to edit any dodgy grammar :- In your Google account, click on the photo and you'll get the photo full size with (probably) black borders, then right click it, select 'copy image location'. In the forum, if you're creating a thread, click 'insert image' icon at the top right (if you hover the pointer over each icon it will tell you what they are, in case you're not sure) and paste the image's location (url) into the 'Image URL' box and hit insert image (ignore the Alt Text*), the photo should now appear below, even before you've posted the thread. To add a photo to a message you're posting to an existing thread, hit the 'Reply' button at the top right of the message box (despite it's name it won't reply! It'll instead open the advanced options window, same as you see when you create a thread), then click the 'Insert image' icon and follow the instructions as above.*I've no idea what the Alt text is, do you shooting star? Can a couple of people try that out to make sure it wasn't a fluke for me and that I haven't missed anything!? Btw shooting star, whilst I have your attention , we certainly appreciate you keeping the forum alive . But we really need at least 1 more mod in case you're busy with RL again, or on holiday or ill (hopefully never the latter! ) or something. Could you setup a 'looking for mods' thread? Then we could suggest/vote for some.

Well no one's replied yet , but I'm scrapping using Google photos as at least some people can't see them here, sometimes! Very weird! This is the photo of Blake I posted earlier (using Imgur this time).

Markpd Alt text is what shows if the photo doesn't load, and what screen-readers read out for visually-impaired folks. No, I can't see the photo earlier in the thread. If google photos doesn't work reliably, do I need to add that bit to the instructions? I'm super busy at the beginning of every quarter (Jan, April, July, Oct), but I'll see what I can do about more mods when I get a chance.

I wouldn't bother with Google photos instructions at all (except perhaps to advise people that if they do try Google, it may well not work). Unless you can figure out why Google doesn't reliably work!? I haven't a foggiest, lol. Re more mods, cool, no worries
