I initially got 648 but apparently you are supposed to include the cows so it's 808.
I thought about the stools but there's no way to know whether they're 3 or 4 legged stools, or even whether they're sitting on stools at all. They could be sitting on boxes. So I don't think we should include those.

Ha ha - milkmaids always have 3-legged stools (like trolls always charge a toll at bridges) - they are the only stools that don't wobble or fall over?

This one isn't a puzzle so much as a psychological oddity, so it will be interesting to see what different people say. I recommend if possible giving your answer before reading others' answers. You could put your answer in spoiler tags if you want: [ spoiler ] text here [ / spoiler ] - remove the spaces. Read the three questions below and write down the first thing you think of in each case:
First, write down the name of a colour. Most people would write "red", so don't choose this colour.
Second, name a simple geometrical figure, such as a circle or a square.
Finally, write down a two-digit number between 1 and 50, in which both digits are odd (such as 15). They should not repeat, such as 1 and 1.This was my answer: Orange, circle, 35

Hmm interesting. :) I’ve never tried the spoiler before so it might not work, but here goes: yellow, triangle, 35

I used to do one of these in a training session I ran to show people that 'generally' people are thinking the same things when you are trying to solve and issue for them. It is pretty amazing how brains are conditioned.
And I never know about the spoiler thing - thank you!
Although I can't see a pattern with yours yet - and I can't get the spoiler thing to WORK!!!!!

Ahh - you can't do it in a full reply - it worked first time in a Quick Reply?

Just as Lilyand Daisy said - copy this: [ spoiler ] text here [ / spoiler ]
Then paste it into the quick reply box.
Then, go through it and remove the spaces inside both the [ ]s
Then, type your answers into the middle of the words "text here" (so: ] textANSWERhere [ )
Then delete the words 'text' and 'here'
This should leave: (spoiler) answers (/spoiler) - but with square brackets
Hit 'post quick reply' and it should appear in the box - hidden from sight.

Purple, triangle, 13 Who knew you could do a spoiler inside a spoiler - it's taken me several attempts to remove it.

This is the answer: Most people will write "blue", "triangle" and "37".
There is a high likelihood that most people will choose the first two of these answers because of popular associations we have with sets of colours and shapes, with red and blue being the most popular primary colours.
When thinking about types of shapes, the first that come to mind are circle, square and triangle. As the question has suggested two of these answers already, people will select a different option.
Finally, for both digits to be odd, the choices are 13, 15, 17, 19, 31, 35 and 37 (note: I'm not sure why 39 isn't an option here?). The wording of the question suggests that we should not select 15 or anything with a 1 and so we are left with 35 and 37. The digit 5 is already mentioned in the question, and generally, 7 is thought to be lucky, making 37 the most frequently selected number.
I think Thea was closest.

Wow, I was very close! It's strange that I'm not aware of the way my mind works a lot of the time, even if I think I am. Very interesting!

I'm very drawn to certain numbers - so I often pick strange combinations of numbers based on those - 37 is one of my usual number patterns - so the two overlapped!
..and I really can't BEAR the number 5 it just looks so uneven written down?
