Lily has been great today. You would never know anything had happened to her. She's been digging, gnawing, running around the cage etc. She hasn't asked to come out for a run yet, but I'm sure she will soon! I'll keep it short to begin with though as I don't think she has as much stamina as she used to.
Still no drinking but I'm starting to suspect she's just got used to having unlimited vegetables, so she doesn't need to drink. I started giving them unlimited vegetables when she got ill, because she really likes them, and because she wasn't leaving her nest to go to the bottle or bowl. Daisy is drinking less too. In a couple of days I'll reduce the vegetables and see if she starts drinking again.

I'm so pleased it's good news with Lily. Have you reduced the veggies yet? If so has she been drinking more again? I am still loving the camera set up - such an amazing idea!
We never found out what was wrong with Little My. I'm just hoping it's not something we need to be concerned about for the future. I really do dislike the lack of knowledge/information on gerbil illnesses. It pretty much feels like fumbling around in the dark and keeping everything crossed.

Yes, I've reduced the vegetables and she's drinking again. She's also starting to get her personality back and today she was attention seeking again, which I've never been so happy to see. She also hasn't had any choking episodes or ataxic episodes for a while so while I think she still has something internally wrong, for now she seems ok. She often gets a sticky right eye in the mornings, but she's had that occasionally in the past. It's the same eye where she has a chronic cyst which I have seen oozing stuff before, so I think that might be what causes the sticky eye. betty I remember you asked whether she was dropping anything from her mouth when drinking. They have a glass water dish so I was able to watch her drinking and she doesn't drop anything. When the dish was moved to a higher shelf there also wasn't much in the water.

Poor Lily had quite a bad episode today. I was woken up by lots of banging from the gerbil cage and at first I thought they were fighting, but it was just Lily, who appeared to be thrashing around. I didn't exactly see what she was doing because I was half awake. When I opened the cage door Lily stopped thrashing and just stood shaking for a while. She was conscious and aware because she sniffed my hand. After the shaking stopped she went to her nest to sleep. Her "episodes" have never been this violent before. I think I'm going to start the Metacam that the vet prescribed.

Aww poor Lily , I hope she perks up quickly. Did the thrashing around look like a fit??

I'm not really sure. Because I was only just awake, and I had blurry vision, my memory of it is very fuzzy. She was on her feet, and might have been jumping around. When I heard the banging and saw Lily's back moving around I assumed that Daisy was underneath her and they were in a ball fight. Daisy was actually deep underground at the time.
As usual, after she had slept it off she was fine.

Thank you. I'm just so relieved that she's happy and still enjoys life in between episodes though. Today I free roamed her and she seemed to really enjoy that. She climbed up the hamster cages like old times, and was cross when I removed her.
She did have a weird episode earlier today when she was eating a raisin. She kept dropping it, and her right front paw seemed weak. I had to hold the raisin for her, but then it seemed to pass and she was able to eat normally again.

Very odd.
How was she cross with you? lol. I know Hamsters can grunt when annoyed, but AFAIK Gerbils don't make any annoyed noises? Unless you include feet stamping?
