Great to hear When you say living together, do you mean you've done the split intro and it was successful, and you've removed the divider? Or they're living together in the cage with a divider?

Great to hear When you say living together, do you mean you've done the split intro and it was successful, and you've removed the divider? Or they're living together in the cage with a divider? Update on Lilly and Tilaka...I did the split cage and it was successful. I removed the divider and all was great until last week. Out of the blue, Lilly stated chasing Tilaka around the tank and it definitely was not playing. Tilaka went to the far end of the tank and made a little nest there but they kept meeting up and swatting at each other and after the second day of this Tilaka started reaching and scratching the tank to get out. They were not sleeping together anymore so I took this as a sign of declanning. So...they are no longer sharing a space. It was so stressful for everyone including me. I had concerns about 2 females being together from reading other posts, but I read so much about them needing a friend and being social I was torn. They had plenty pf space, 40 gallon breeder tank with 8-10 inches of bedding and a wheel and bridges and hideouts. Their home was quite perfect but they just decided they didn't want to live together. I will not be bringing another one in. They will just live alone.

That's a shame, but yea I had a similar thing with my boys, after initially declanning then doing (a kind of) split intro, they were ok for about a month, they even got on better than they originally did, then they declanned bloodily . They now live permanently split and seem to be quite happy . But for what it's worth, it is worth trying a split intro at least once, as many people have success. Btw, could you report how your girls get on in the permanently split cage over the next few months and on into the Permanent split cage thread?
