So, several weeks ago I got 2 gerbils. There were 4 at the pet shop but I didn't want 4 as I've read it can cause declanning. The guy in the pet shop said someone else was coming in for gerbils and to get our 2 quickly before they went. A few weeks went by and the other 2 gerbils were still in the pet shop. I've been feeling really guilty that I left them behind to exist in a tiny pet shop cage. Fast forward to today . . . I went to the pet shop to buy some bits and only 1 gerbil is left, I feel so sad for it, no-one wants it and WHY was the pet shop allowed to sell only 1? Part of me wants to go and bring it home but I wouldn't put it in the same tank as my other 2 and I really don't have any more room for another tank because I have a hamster too. What would you do?

What did you end up doing?
A single gerbil in a caring home is much better than a single gerbil in the store set ups of course, but if you don't have room right now then that is only something you can decide.
homing it in a smaller than usual enclosure at yours will still be larger than the one at the store I'd imagine - so there is that at least, but I know what it is like to be overcrowded with pets - even short term.
Not an easy one to answer for sure...
