I'm leaving my gerbils with my cousin and I've never really measured out their portions since they're growing gerbs, I've just scooped out a handful and replaced it when I noticed it running low. the pups are all 1 month old.

I am sure this is too late now anyway - but I feed ad lib with pups as I never know how easily they pups can eat and what bits they still can't or don't want to eat - and how much bodily nurtients and fats the mum needs to re-eat in this post-wean time.
Basically I stick in a pile every day (unless there is still a decent pile left) and scatter a few more bits all over the place - so pups can always find food. A lot of it is wasted I am sure - but I don't like to portion control too much at a lifestage that is so delicate - especially when there is a herd of them...
