I always keep two glass water bottles in my gerbils' tank. I went to clean them and add new water, and one now constantly leaks. It's no longer in the tank.
I checked it several times, cleaned the spout again, tapped it, etc., but the water just keeps running. Does this just happen to bottles after awhile? Does anyone have any tips on how to fix it?
Asking for help before I decide to buy a new one. Thank you.

Most bottles have a ball bearing in the spout. If it's missing the water will just run out. Did you perhaps lose a ball bearing when you cleaned the bottle.
A missing ball bearing could probably be replaced, if you knew the right size to get. However if you got the wrong size the bottle would either leak, or not work at all. It might be easier to get a new bottle.

I pushed it in a few times to make sure there wasn't a seed or something lodged in there, but nothing came out.

I once purchased an extra water bottle that leaked terribly from the first minute I used it. I had no choice but to get rid of it.
