Last month I noticed that my gerbil Eggs was almost half of what his weight was in July, and Pluto had also lost some weight (not as much). I don’t weigh them much as they’re very shy, but when I saw how much weight they’d lost I was worried. However, our local small animal vet is only open when I’m in school, so it’s hard to make an appointment.
To summarize, they’ve had some behavior changes. First they were out of the burrows more in the day, then both eggs and Pluto were more aggressive. Today, Eggs came out with his fur ruffled, his eyes mostly closed, his back hunched, and shaking. This is what my hamster, who lived in the same enclosure, did in the day or so before she passed. We bleached the cage in between. I weighed the gerbils today and Pluto’s weight is back up, While Egg’s is down. Eggs was also calm and cuddly and sat with me for a few minutes. Now he’s sitting near some food I put in and Pluto’s been sitting with him. Is Egg’s dying? What can I do? The vet isn’t open on weekends but I could still call and check.
Not sure if this means anything but Eggs burrowed himself into a little alcove/divot and Pluto’s left him alone now. He ended up running around for a bit then sitting with Eggs, right on top of him. Eggs breathing looks bad. I accidentally dropped something and scared them, but they seem to be settling back down.

He does sound quite unwell unfortunately. Is there anyone who can take him to the vet for you during the day?
Ruffled fur, hunched posture, half-closed eyes are very generic symptoms of illness in rodents, which can be caused by many different illnesses. Therefore it's unlikely that Eggs caught anything from your hamster.
For the time being, you can help Eggs by making sure he has food and water easily accessible. Offer a range of different foods, including some soft foods to encourage him to eat. If you have a heating pad you could put that under part of the tank, or alternatively a covered hot water bottle leant against the side of the tank.
