These are metal shelves, originally intended for kitchen cupboards but I use them as tank platforms. They come in two sizes, one approximately 28x14cm and one 30x28cm, and both 16cm high. The smaller size works very well as a wheel stand (although I had to glue the wheel onto it to stop it rattling). Pros: - They are metal so they won't be ruined by pee and they can be easily cleaned. - They can be flat-packed for easy storage when not in use - Gerbils can't destroy them. Cons: - There are small holes which may be of concern if you wanted to use these for rodents with smaller feet or even very small/young gerbils. I think they are fine for most gerbils. - Gerbils like to pee on platforms and the holes in these mean pee will fall through to the bedding below (making spot cleaning more difficult). Large: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/variera-shelf-insert-white-60136623/I can't find the small size on the Ikea website right now. Maybe it's no longer available.

Interesting product. I got two for our two male gerbils. Got the bigger version; they don't have the smaller ones in the Netherlands, either. I liked the larger ones better anyway because I would be scared the wheel would fall off the small ones, and the larger plateau gives them such a nice area underneath. My experience: pro - It's cheaper than a wooden platform.
- The gerbils love having a nice cave underneath.
contra
- They do pee and poop on it a lot and it gets messy, so the smaller version would probably be better to avoid this.
- It can get noisy. Wooden wheel on metal plateau on glass. I use kitchen tissue between the different materials. However, that makes it larger/higher and it barely fits into our 50 cm high tank. Also, the tissue gets used off sometimes, so it gets noisy again.
All in all, I think I prefer wooden plateaus, but these are a good cheaper option.

Used off? As in worn through? Yes. My bad English, sorry.

No worries, was just checking (and your English is normally excellent!).

Update:
The smaller version seems to be available again at the moment. I found it both on the Dutch and the British website.
