I really should’ve asked sooner about my boy Oakley, but I didn’t think of it as being a possible concern. He was attacked briefly thanks to trying (and failing) to introduce 3 gerbils to one. Never will try that again. We did research and had used a gerbil cage which I was afraid to use, but others said it would be fine (others outside of forum). So Oakley tried to attack Finnick, and ended up with a broken arm/wrist. It thankfully aligned fine, and healed up good as new. Except for his toes. He has a few toes that ever since then are black and swollen looking. Doesn’t seem to bother him, but I wanted to see if anyone has advice if there’s anything I can do to fix them, or if they seem fine. Hopefully I explained this ok! Let me know if this picture uploads fine or not.

Checkout the link in my sig for help on pics (afraid I don't know the answer to your gerbil question).

Yep, that works Although if you click on the pic. and then copy the BBcode, you could paste that here and the photo will show here. Btw I see what you're were trying to do in your op (1st post), if you want to share a Google pic you can't just copy and paste the url from the address bar, you need to click on the pic, hit share, then hit create link, then copy and paste that (assuming you just want a link to a pic without actually posting it here).

I meant to say earlier, we can only see the tip of the black toenail, if you're able to can you take a photo from the left side or front of that paw? However I know gerbils aren't exactly the easiest to photo! . Btw, for some gerbils, black toenails are normal, my Blake (below, an agouti) has black nails. But of course they shouldn't be swollen and I'm not sure that them changing colour is normal!

imgur.com/a/fQBkZy1here is a picture from a different angle (no, he’s not trying to flip anyone off LOL) is Blake a golden agouti? My Timmy looks just like him, wanted to double check if I’ve got Timmy’s color correct.

The breeder I bought him from said he was a brown agouti, I'm no expert on gerbils colours myself, but I am pretty certain that's their natural colour. I see what you mean by the nail now! Perhaps the base of the nail growth was damaged in the break somehow? I don't know about gerbils, but when I damaged the base (quick?) of my own nail, it took years before it grew normally! I don't suppose it would take that long in a gerbil seeing as they have a much higher metabolism, but let's see what the more experienced folk say.
Btw, cute pic of your 3 gerbils

It's possible the nail is partially detached from the nail bed and will eventually fall off. I'd just keep an eye on it for now. If the whole toe goes black, I'd take him to the vet.
