Hello!! I've had my gerbils for about 2 weeks now and they are currently in a 20 gallon long. However, over the past few days they have gotten friendlier with me and MUCH more adventurous. I let one of them climb on my hand a bit today and after he started jumping up at the lid trying to escape every few seconds. I was scared he would hit his head, so I went out and got a 40 gallon, put some bedding and toys in there and let them play in there for about an hour or so (I was looking for signs of them not wanting to be there or seizures like last time.) I would like to move them to the 40 gallon as I would like for them to have a lot of space but it feels like the move is too quick. They just came into a new home, made their burrows and everything and I would hate to destroy all that so soon. Is it better to wait a couple weeks or possibly months before changing enclosures? I just don't want them to be unhappy or get hurt trying to take the lid off the 20 gal.

Just move them over and keep all the bedding etc, they will soon rearrange to their liking

Ditto.
Have you moved them now anyway?

Yes, moved them and gave them about a week to rearrange how they like. They seem to be fine now and happier!
