Hello,
I have recently been having a lot if problems with my gerbils sadly. Three of them have had many seizure or stroke type issues (one sadly has passed away already) and I am pretty sure it is something to do with genetics.
The reason I am posting about this is that I think it is very strange because only the slate gray ones have been having these problems. My slate grays have always been a little crazy, they were very hyperactive and very aggressive. My other colors have always been normal but every slate I have had is like this.
So I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with slate? I am very interested in figuring out if slates are somehow more prone to neurological issues, or if mine have all had these problems by chance or some other cause.

I haven't heard of anything on my gerbil chats elsewhere specifically for Slates - but I know the Blue gene (d) did have a few related issues that I believed had been smoothed out - however there are always things I may have missed. I wonder if Shooting Star is still online as they may well have something to add.

She was online a couple of weeks ago, but hasn't posted since May last year. So she might get the tag! If not, you could try her on facebook. barryozzy How old are they now, and how old were they when they 1st had these problems?

There is a FB groups called Just Gerbil Genetics (literally only for chats about the effects of genes) that it might be worth joining/posting on - specifically about the uw(d) gene and any associated health issues. I would certainly like to read the comments on that thread for sure.
