I have three boy gerbils, I have had all of them for over a year and they had never actually bite me before recently. Sometimes they will softly nibble/lick/ or graze teeth over my hands which is fine but never had they bitten down before now. First it was just one gerbil that would climb up to my shoulder and he started biting my ears a lot or my face or hands occasionally. Then more recently my other 2 gerbils were just like soft nibbling and kind of like playing around my hand and the other gerbil came over and took a hard bite then the other two did too...? Similar situations have happened a couple times now this past week and now my hands and fingers are covered in tons of bites and missing chunks, which as you can imagine isn't great. This is *usually* very unlike them. They had food, and water, and I don't think I had any food residue or anything on my hands. Anytime they try I try to (as calm-ly as possible) extract my hand and present them with something they can bite/eat/or chew (is this a correct response?). But what's going on with this? It seems that the one gerbil is kind of the instigator for this lol but idk, am I doing something wrong? I usually like to think of myself as a pretty good gerbil mama so if I'm doing something wrong, how do i fixxxx? Please help lol my fingers thank you haha.

This does seem very strange for them all to suddenly decide to do it - so perhaps there is a bit of tension in the group that is spilling out with these jitters and biting.
Has anything else changed recently in the house, their enclosure or the room itself?
