Hi again everyone, really hoping to maybe get some anecdotal help. One of my girls, Sunnie, has grown quite ill. weight loss, clicking lungs, lethargic, loss of appetite (and she LOVES food) We've been to the vet. Baytril because it seemed to fit. That was just over a week ago and the clicking has gone away. But she's still squeaking loudly, tired, hiding, not eating all that much and eyes aren't typically fully open.
I'm quite concerned and after some research, I'm somewhat leaning towards possible kidney disease. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? She lives alone, her and her cagemate declanned some time over a year ago. So she's separated and won't be spreading if contagious. I'm being obsessive with cleaning when she comes out, even so far as ordering a massive air purifier for their room. (On quiet mode after the initial air scrubbing and reporting excellent air quality, at least in particulates) I have to wait to get back to the vet due to their availability. Any help in the interim would be appreciated and I would be forever grateful. Sunner buns is my chunky little cuddle butt and truly one of the sweetest little gerbs you'd ever meet. Knowing she's unwell is absolutely crushing my heart and I'm happy to move heaven and earth to afford her some relief.

Are you able to take her back to the vet? Can the vet do any tests or just physical exams? How old is she?

I would agree with taking her back to the vet for another assessment. Respiratory infections can cause scarring of the lungs or airways which could cause the squeaking but a vet would be able to advise better. How old is Sunnie?

she may need a stronger or different antibiotic, i would get her checked again as soon as you can and maybe with another vet who may know more. Fingers crossed for Sunnie.
