I've been meaning to ask this question for ages but haven't got around to it. I haven't been sure about Luna's colour since I got her. As a young pup she was white with grey ears and a grey tail with a white tip. Her eyes are black and reflect red and her claws are medium brown. Her siblings are nutmeg, agouti, slate, and I think pink-eyed white, and her mother was a grey agouti. Which means there are many genetic possibilities. Pup photos: Also see this photo from the rescue she came from: www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=830349335798476&set=a.791965366303540Then when she molted she developed grey ticking. She looks like a lightly ticked polar fox now, and even has a bit of a peachy undercoat, but she wasn't peachy at all as a pup. Adult photos: My best guess would be either a CP polar fox or CP silver nutmeg. The CP gene would presumably lighten the peachy colour and the ticking, while leaving a dark tail. Or maybe she's just a less-peachy-than-usual polar fox? Is there a way to tell the difference between a CP polar fox and CP silver nutmeg?

There is - and it is all to do with toenails and ears I am assuming - however I never remember which is which. Especially when you add in possible 'light' or 'spotted' colourpoint options. Best bet is for Shooting Star to see a few images on here - or post these images (especially those including her adult toenails) on the Gerbil Genetics FB group if you haven't already - with Danielle Cromer being the one who's answers you are waiting for.
