I'm getting my Gerbils tomorrow and I can't wait. I went to a PetsMart a little further away and they have alot of beautiful gerbils! I think I saw an Apricot I saw these little trays they call litter pans. Will my gerbils actually use this? I'm a little skeptical. Also, what do you fill it with? Sand? I also wanted to know exactly how high can Gerbils jump? I was getting a medium to large aquarium to put them in but do I need a lid? Can't have them getting out or my Kitty's gonna have an earley lunch..

As you can read in gerbilforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=generalcare&action=display&thread=1084247850, it might be likely that they will use it! But I think you will need to fill it with sand! My gerbils use their sand bath as litter box!!! About their jumping: they can jump very well! The cage should at least have a height of 30 cm. However they can escape from higher tanks. I can tell you that from my own experience! ;D Especially when they have nesting boxes, branceh, toys, wheels, etc., than they can climb on those items and climb or jump out of the cage! So I would recommend you to use a lid on the aquarium! Or it has to be very high, but most aquariums aren't!

These are the small dunas, we keep pairs in them, in our batchelor one we have 3 males but that is the limit on this size duna, you can get them huge also. they sell them for rabbits.
They are very good, gerbil escape proof and light and easy to clean.

I like dunas too! They are not as good as aquariums, etc. but they is good enough and not that expensive! Only never remove the water bottle!!!!! When you do you have to place something before the hole! Otherwise that hole will get much bigger! I can tell you from experience!
And dunas are indeed very light and easy to clean!

I have been looking for lightweight, easy to clean, inexpensive cages...these would be a great fit except they dont sell them in the US!
