I currently have a lot of "stuff" going on. I will make sure I go to the library to pick up the book this week. You are right about playing with another website first before I make changes to mine. Who is your host? Are they expensive? I am currently on the Freewebs but hopefully can upgrade in the new year. Again thanks for the help.

That sounds great. I probably won't have any time to explain some of the stuff until the new year . My vet school application is due January 3, and I'm leaving for Toronto in 10 days. I still have to write my Xmas letters . Then we are into calving season. When will I get some time to rest ? The book is really straight forward, so I will just give you a hand with the things that you are stuck on. Ha ha, it will be like the blind leading the blind ;D.

Congrats!! I hope you make it!! Speaking of Toronto, I will be up there for a seminar in August. I would love to get to meet you in person!!! How far are you from there?
Do you help deliver the calves?

I live about a three day drive from Toronto (ie: 72 hours) . And trust me, driving two days across the prairies will make anyone fall asleep. It would be really cool to meet you though. Maybe you can just nip by Alberta while your in Ontario . When in August will you be there?

Oh, and I just am just watching the vet deliver the calves. I'm sure I will get to help at some point. I think it will be great!

Wow that's awesome, I've never watched a real birth in person. My Uncle owns a vet clinic in Rehoboth Beach, so in the summers I got to watch him, and sometimes help out. It was fun, but I definentley don't have what it takes!! ;D BTW, I'm trying to build a webpage to boost adoption now that I'll have 3 breeding pairs. Would you mind going over it once I get it up? I started with just wanting one page, but ended up adding more so the organization is all messed up, I think I need an index page. I want to make sure that the people who adopt the pups will really take good care of them (ie: not cedar, or many gerbils in a small cage), but I think I came off a little pushy I put a link on too your page for gerbil care questions ;D is that ok? I have pictures of my gerbils, they're cute, but my digital camera is awful, so all the pictures are out of focus. Do you think I should borrow a couple cute pictures of the colors I have available, from other people sites, if they're alright with it and use those on the main page?

Callimico, sorry, are your questions directed to Sweetie, or me? Regardless, I would be glad to look over your site when you finish it. I know that my own website isn't all that good for gerbil care info, it focuses only on breeding. Sweetie's site has a good low-down on care and maintanenece. So far, I've only gotten to see one calving, and the calf was dead . I will get plenty of chances though, in the next few months. I have gotten to see my gerbil give birth several time . I would think it would be fine to use other people's pics for the colours available. Just make sure people understand they won't be getting that exact gerbil. What colours are you getting now?

When using other peoples pictures you must do 2 things 1) ask them..even if they haven't put a copyright notice up their pictures are still their property (it's also good manners) 2) acknowledge them. most people are dead chuffed to see their name beside their pic

sounds good, I'll look for some cute pictures and send them an email to ask for permission. oops I forgot to make that clear, I was asking you queenofthenile, my links for "more gerbil info" has ags care page, your site, gsuk, and a couple others w/specefics on split cage or tank toy ideas. Right now I have 1 breeding pair together, 1 pair I haven't introduced yet, and 1 pair arriving the 23rd. ;D Colors: SpottedBurmese&Siamese: Burmese and Siamese in spotted and solid Honey Cream&Black: Black, Agouti, nutmeg, DEH, DTW, honey Cream in Light, solid, spotted, and pied Mottled slate&Heavily mottled agouti: Golden agouti, gray agouti, Black, Slate in mottled, pied, spotted, and solid. Pet stores around here only offer black and agouti with the occasional REW, and so far I haven't had problems finding homes for pups- which have been all black up to this point from a nutmeg and DTW pair I've just retired. (living w/3 sons, mom w/daughter) But I'll have to see which colors are more popular, becuase Ill be getting a lot of black&agouti from 2 different lines Also have a chance for silver nutmeg, polar fox and a 75% chance for argente golden, topaz, lilac, sapphire- but I haven't intro'd them yetso... . 50% for CP slate, CP nutmeg, BEW, LCP colors. So I'm awaiting my first litter from any of the pairs above, my first spotted pups and CP pups all in one. lol, but once the pups come I'm going to have a helluva time trying to distinguish the nutmegs from DEH's, and so on ;D

Callimico, you can use any of my pics of siamese, burmese, cp slate or lcp slate. If you like any of the pics, just put copyright of Leah beside it. I can't wait to see what it looks like!
