where i live (calgary alberta canada) it is becoming winter, and is getting alot colder. my gerbils are inside,but they are down stairs, and i dont know wether they might get to cold.
what are good temperatures that i should keep my gerbils at? what can i do about them getting cold, if it does get to cold? thanks

give them lost of extra bedding, and turn up the thermostat. That's all I can recommend.

You don't want it to get below 15C. Gerbils cannot tolerate temperatures lower than that. To help keep warm, give them lots of toilet tissue/facial tissue to shred for their nest. If the basement gets really cold, you can use a space heater.

are cotten balls fine for bedding? thats what ive been using for all the time ive had my gerbils. will they know to go into there little houses if it gets to cold?

I wouldn't use cotton balls. They contain long fibers that can cause blockages in the intestines or get wrapped around a limb. Toilet tissue is preferable.

do you think it will effect them now? they seem to like it, and ive been using it for the last three months should i take it out now? is it majorly important? thanks

Yes, take it out now. Just because their intestines haven't been blocked yet, doesn't mean it can't happen.
