Yeah its fine. They can't and won't chew it anyway. They might try and nibble on it once, realize there is no way they'll get their teeth into and then they won't bother. Just make sure its secure enough and doesn't wobble so they can't tip it over or anything.

I agree. I would make sure that it is not thin glass and it is not fragile if they do nibble. Some vases are thick and some paper thin. I used a mayo jar for them. They did not use it as a nest. They instead found it fun to get in and dig like the dickens!! It was cute since I could see there excitement due to it being made of glass and see through. Maybe yours will use it as a nset. I think that because there are not 2 entry ways, they will not use it. I have noticed my gerbils will only nest in something if it has an entrance and a quick exit (natural flight behavior from predators). I think they like it because it will be warm but they try to make another hole and can't.

I also think it's fine. I have glass jars in my cages. They use them as bathrooms, lol. If they try to nibble the glass, they wont like it and wouldn't do it again. Glass stuff is OK.

It is great when they use a glass jar as a latrine, you only need to wash it and dry it,replace it and hardly ever have to clean out the whole cage.Mind you, once they have used it for a wee, they do appreciate you cleaning it out quickly for them.........they object to a dirty toilet just like we would.

Glass (except thin glass) is great because it cannot be chewed you may see them lick it in the wild smooth surfaces would have condesation on in the early mornign and evening gerbils lick smooth surfaces to get the moisture.....in cages they may not get moisture this way but they will mimic the behaviour, especially pups

would it then be ok to put a little water on the glass for them to lick off?

possibly BUT you do not want to encourage moisture build up in your tanks
