I was at Petsmart the other day, and there was a man and woman standing nearby looking at the gerbils. I heard them say that they wanted a gerbil, and they were trying to decide which one to get. They were also wondering among themselves about the differences between hamsters and gerbils. I couldn't resist, and offered to help them. I explained some of the differences, like gerbils usually being more active, and being awake more during the day, etc. I also told them that gerbils are social and really should have a companion. So they picked out two gerbils instead of just one! They also asked about what type of cage would be good, and I helped them with choosing a cage and bedding.
I was so excited and happy that I was able to help them out. It was really neat!

Well done! Many salespeople in pet shops don't know really what gerbils are and what is good for them. (Some do!) It is always good to be informed well, before purchasing a pet!

Hey LPN,
THANK YOU!! I really am glad that you did that. I wish every one would do that. Then there would be fewer mis informed people in the world.
I also like the opportunity to talk to people about gerbils and I feel the need to give them correct, appropriate information. I took 2 of my gerbils to my sons class and introduced the kids to them. It was a great experience for the kids they loved touching and feeding them. I am now known as the the gerbil lady. LOL
Again Thank you for taking the time to bestow the proper info. ;D
