Hi there.. ;D I am a new member and I have signed in because I have a question about our Gerbil. We had three of them, all males.. but now two of them died and I have one left. He is to old to let him join other gerbils, so what is the best thing I can do now? He is still very activ, digs and runs around in his big cage. But he also try to "eat" himself thru the barnes. I've read that that is behaviour he is not enjoying himself. Who has advice for me? Regards Guuzzie from Holland

I think since he is a male you can still introduce him to a pup. But if you don't want to, then you should just love him and play with him daily.

It depends on what you want! Do you want to continue keeping gerbils? If so you might consider introducing two very young males (5-8 weeks old). If not, or when you think that he will not accept them, you can consider leaving him alone! But I would recommend introducing two pups.
But keep in mind when you do this, that there is always the option that you will fail! So you need to be able to house the new pups anyway.

Hello Guuzzie,
I agree with Peter. If you get two male pups, the intro should go well. Also when the older one passes away, you will not have to do more introductions. Males are very receptive to young pups.
