what does grooming look like? because i cant tell if my gerbils are grooming each other or not. thanks

If they are grooming themselves, they will pull their paws over the back of their head, then lick then and their fur get ruffled up. If they are grooming each other, one will lay of it's back and the one on top will groom the other one's neck.

if they are grooming each other, does it sort of look like one is rakeing its paws through the other ones fur, or like one is bitting the other one on the head or neck or upper back? because that is what i saw happening the other day.

Yeah, usually they will pull the fur up on themselves and the gerbil they are cleaning.

ok thanks. even though ive had gerbils for quite a while now, ive never known what grooming looks like, because ive never seen either of my gerbils groom each other. so when they did this morning, it was a first for me. thanks

Grooming is a social behavior animals show when they like one another.

My gerbils keep licking each others bottoms, what does that mean? I thought they were just grooming each other! ;D. One of them eats his own droppings from time to time as well, is that normal or are my gerbils just perverted?

I think I have herd somewhere that they eat poop for some kind of minerals. I really don't know though. Ecoa
