ditto what Ryan said. Even if it does, it doesn't really matter (I mean, it does, but you don't need a perfect gerbil...) unless you are going to show it or something like that. I myself have 2 gerbils that are halftailed. They look just as cute, and I later learned that if the cut doesn't get infected it doesn't hurt! Hope you get your gerbies soon.

^ its still pretty stressful for the gerbil to lose its tail Depends what ball you get and how big the airholes are. the petshop I work at sells quite a few, large balls and I'm terrified of them getting their legs/tails stuck in the fairly substantial holes. I don't like balls for gerbils anyway, mine just run around the room/hallway under strict supervision.

I've used Roll-about-balls for my rodents forever, and have never had any incedent where my pet is harmed. Though sicne I got a couple Play Pens, I never use the balls anymore. Both toys are to be use when supervised, you never know what kind of trouble a little pet can get into.

I had a gerbil once that lost her tail in an accident and she squeaked I think from pain, so I doubt that they can lose their tail and not feel pain. I would like to know the name of the gerbil that was interviewed that said a tail can be lost without feeling pain!

Hey Led,
I have used the roll a round balls with all 8 of my gerbs and no problems with loss of anatomy. They love them. THe holes in the medium balls are not big enough to get any thing caught in it. They have the small balls for mice & Dwarfs, the medium balls for hamsters and gerbils, and the large balls for ferrets ect.
