So - I decided that my gerbils needed a bit more playing space.
I had 2 plans:
A - Try those hamster harnesses B - Get more plapens and link them together
I tried plan a first, the harnesses arrived on monday. I got them both in the playpen and tried to get ashes harness on. Every time it went near her, she'd grab it and try to eat it! After a few failed attempts with ash, I tried satin, and had the same results. I thhought I'd give them another try each, before giving up.
SAtin saw me try with ash again, and took matters into her own hands and jumped out of the playpen, as if to say "NO WAY!!"
Another playpen unit is on it's way!!

Ps - I'd love to let em just run around the room, but with all the hifi stuff it's not really safe for gerbils....

About linking the playpens...that's what I tried with my boys, we had two and linked them up and it's great that they've got an area twice as big to play in but it does make it twice as difficult to keep an eye on them! In the end we connected the two pens on top of each other, so it was double the height as that's the only way we stood a chance of being able to catch them before they were up and over!

Don't try it! Gerbils are smart enough to chew out of the "evil device" (hehe) in a matter of seconds, lol.

.... That just seems unnatural, I mean theres a reason they don't like them!! Plus it probably stresses them out enough putting it on because they'll struggle anyhow. I don't see why you can't just let them run around in the playpen.

-How about leting them run around in your bathroom. That shouldn't have wires and stuff for them to chew (and is easier to clean up if they have an 'accident' *Jade blushes*. -Has anyone else tried those large plastic balls you can put hamsters and gerbils in? Jade (female) wasn't keep cos she didn't like how her back legs sprayed out, but Kinks (male) LOVED it!. He even started charging the dog (Irish setter) in it, and she got terrified of him and wouldn't even stay in the same room!!!

They had their first run in the twofer playpen - loved it - I had the coffee table in there as another climbing frame for them and they had a blast!!

:)I tried one of those hamster harnesess, it didn't work. They wouldn't stay still long enough for me to put it on. I got it on a couple of times, but they just slipped right out. What a rip-off, I paid 5 dollars for it! Ecoa

I love the exer-balls, but I use the rat sized ones with gerbils, They don't look as squashed as they do in the size recomended for them.
Anyone know if there are any gerbil Magazines?
