*cry* I know! I had one that was mad on millet and would 'perch' on some branches I put in. She thought that she WAS a budgie *cry* Her sister Ruby tried as hard as she could to perch with no success (she kept falling off the branch/twig. No sence of balance *sigh*)
Personally I think that haveing boys as your first gerbils is great since you can learn so much about gerbils from them that you can't learn from females, such as boys tend to groom each other and will sleep outside the nest which none of my females have ever done. This has a HUGE ahhh factor and you will proberbly be calling your mum up every 2 mins to take a look at them. I still do that and I'm 19 and have had many gerbils. Its something that I can't seem to grow out of... hmm...

Malabui is so right! My boys wash eachother and play together and sometimes they just sleep on a stone, on top of eachother and it's indeed very cute to watch

Yeah they are indeed When it's dark in my room they get really active. One of them gnaws on the bars of the door when he sees me, because he knows that I'll open it, and then he rushes on my arms and climbs me whole over! It's a bit hard to stand still with 2 gerbies running over your shoulders and digging in your shirt And when I want them to go back in their cage, I just put them in, but before I can close the door they're already out again It keeps jou sharp

My 4 young boys are Almost like Angels. I have never had such well behavied gerbils. Are they Ill?! I mean, The don't run when I pick them up. They take food from my hand. They don't really gnaw the bars. I've had all 4 of them on my hand at once any they don't try to escape. IT'S NOT NATURAL!!! *cry*

I was told not to use wild bird feed because it is mixed and packaged in really bad conditions as comapered to pet food. .. anyone know if that is true or if someone was just trying to control what I use for my gerbils?

such as boys...will sleep outside the nest which none of my females have ever done. Interesting. I didn't know that was more of a boy thing. My Carl sleeps outside the nest/house a lot. Sometimes he falls asleep in a corner or near the water bottle. Lorraine, on the other hand, is always in the nest/house when she sleeps.

I use all kinds of bird seed with no problems at all. I just take note of what kind of seeds predominate, I like to see lots of wheat-type seed, vs. a lot of millet and sunflower seeds. Sometimes I mix two birdseed types together, and then throw in a bunch of small animal pellets plus a scoop of cat food. If I happen to have them on hand, I add slivered almonds, rice, pumpkin seeds, oats, chick peas, etc.
