Thank you very much for this informative, picture-filled information! Could you include some pictures of what a gerbil enclosure would look like? I've been told those are better than the plastic balls.

Actually, no the person in this thread is referring to Charming Dipodils; or Gerbillus Amoenus. I'm unaware of any other Dipodils having been available in captivity. egerbil.com/dipodil.htmlThey are a true Gerbil unlike Mongolian Gerbils which are in fact Jirds. They are very small with wonderful long tails and actually quite friendly considering they were only a couple of generations from wild-caught.

Thanks Mermum, the images you have bring out at here of gerbil is really awesome for me. Some of the images are very cute and I'm glad to see small fragile gerbil pets. That is awesome and chance for me to see it.

Hey marksdorcel, thanks for digging this out of the archives. I had never seen it before. I love the photo that shows a "cooling rack" being placed on the lid of a plastic tote for security. Beats having to deal with hardware cloth.
