I've recently bought new some gerbils. I got them home and got a better look at the four of them and thought they looked a bit 'different' from my mongolians. They seem to have a wider space in between their eyes, larger eyes, larger bodies, taller, a bit thicker tails, a bit thicker boned, their behavior is a bit different (they thump a lot, are out a lot more move around a lot more then the mongolians, they don't act like a vampire in the light, they dig more then the mongolians which I didn't think was possible). They are very amazingly sweet (they give kisses to me and the mongolians). So I took a few pics of one of them next to one of my mongolians. They are both adult females. Do you think they are the same species, a possible cross, or completely different?

They are definatelly the same species! They are all Mongolian gerbils, Meriones unguiculatus! Small differences can appear in pet gerbils! The result of domestication, inbreeding, selective breeding, etc.
