Hey everyone,
I've acquired some Duprasi! I'm soooo excited! ;D Queenofthenile brought them to me from Saskatchewan . The gerbil breeder there wasn't having luck breeding them, so she sold them to me for forty dollars which is REALLY good...they are VERY rare in Canada. The gerbil breeder in Sask. wasn't doing it right...she left the male andfemale together at all times.
If you're wondering, I live in Edmonton Alberta. Hopefully I'll have pups soon! I will post pictures as soon as I can!

Congratulations! ;D Breeding can be difficult sometimes. Although I didn't have any problems and it was quite easy with my ones. SO if you have any questions, feel free to ask! It is indeed not good to leave the male and female together! I did that too in the beginning (due to shortage of tanks), but I had two pairs. I switched the females, and they mated the soon after that and they were pregnant! Do you one pair? And do you now keep them seperate for a while, before you place the female again with the male?

Yes, I just have one pair...I got them on Friday, and they had been seperated up until that point. I put them together, and the male was sniffing her and licking her a lot, with just a few protest squeaks from her...the would stand up and bat at eachothers faces a lot, but it wasn't very violent, they didn't bite eachother at all. THe male would mount the female, and she would turn around and groom him. THey are sleeping together now, but sometimes I see them wrestling again, and mounting. I found that if I take the female out for a minute or two, and put her out, they start mounting again. They haven't hurt eachother at all though...im impressed! much different then mongolians! I plan to just take them apart in a week or a week and a half, she should be pregnant by then, no? I have enough tanks to just put them in seperate tanks while the female is raising the pups. Here they are!

They look fantastic! Do you know how old they are?
You can remove the male after one or two weeks, but you can also leave him with the female until you're sure she is pregnant. Although that is sometimes hard to see, because of their thick fur!
