I have two maile gerbils, ben & jerry. They are in a 16x12x14 inch cage. I would like to put them in a used 15 gallon tank. But I can't find any where I live and am coming up empty handed searching on the internet. They are crowded and my cat wants them for dinner. Although the cat is getting bit by the gerbils more then she is getting to them. . I live in south/west michigan and am looking around in the $15-$20 dollar range for the 15 gallon aquarium w/wiremesh lid. can anyone help me? bipolarbird

Hey,
Good luck trying to find a 15 gallon. I have found 20 gal for $25 at Petsmart and I went to Home Depot for a $5 roll of wire fencing (almost like chicken fencing) rolled it out then folded it down over the cage. The fencing is about 5 feet long and will cover a bunch of tanks!
Some other places to check are classifieds and pet store clearance racks, Good luck and let us know what happens.

yeah 15 gallons are hard to find..
For 2 gerbils, just go with a 10 gallon. It's the cheapest and it's in your price range. You can get those at Walmart, PEtsmart, or Petsuppliesplus for $7-$10. Covers are also around the same price.
10 gallons are also the cheapest for some reason. 20 gallons usually cost over $25. 5 gallons are $12..which makes no sense.

I'll check out some of the local own stores in the area they may have one for free. I'm also checking out a new website where you put things you don't need up for free and you can post things that you need also. If interested I can post the website. You will have to check to see if they have a site for the city you live in though. But its all free. It's like a flea market only free.

I ended up buying a 20L tank with built in mesh top for $50 at petco. They were the cheapest in the area and good thing. My two gebils, Ben and Jerry have started to pull their hair off each others legs. They are much more happy in their new home. The cat, Silver, is very unhappy though ;D. The free garage sale site is www.freecycle.orgIt's a great site. bipolarbird

I am glad to hear they are doing better. I hope it works. It sounds like you got a big tank with a lot of room . Thanks for the site address! ;D
