Something's up with my computer and this forum. I haven't changed any settings, but every time I try to get on the forum using Firefox, it crashes. I can get on using IE. I've got a lot of extensions that block all sorts of potentially bad stuff... ActiveX, scripts, etc, and I'm getting notifications that this page wants to use an ActiveX control. Does this have something to do with the new chat feature?
Anyone else having problems?

It definitely sounds related to the new chat feature. In fact, this screen just froze for me a sec ago because of the white box loading.. We need to get it on 1 and only 1 dedicated page.

yep i got the activex control thing. wondered what it was for a moment but then realised there was a chat feature.
my pc has blocked it because they cant verify the publisher.. unsafe perhaps?

Yeah, the chat is messing up my computer, too. I've had to hardboot twice.

Hmmm... now my pc absolutely hates ActiveX but I'm not having a problem with that, just the Java appelet thingy, it seems to be stalling the pages/threads when they load up Think Ryan is right and the 'Chat Room' needs to be on a separate page to the 'home page' Caroline

Whew, glad to know it's not just my computer. Go figure that IE--which let's just 'bout anything run--has no problems, while my beloved FF won't even let the page load. I'm going to see if there's a setting to "whitelist" this page for FF, 'cause I trust it, obviously... but I might have to turn off some of the protections all together. Until then, I'm stuck with stupid, ugly IE Nicole

I'm using IE and have been having problems too. My screen has frozen a few times today while I've been on the forum. I had to restart the computer to get things working again.

I'm sorry to hear you're all having problems, I've been offline for a few days and it was a nice surprise. I'm sure the moderators will have it sorted soon !!!

Ok, now IE is crashing. This is very annoying. How can we fix the chat feature so it doesn't cause problems?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! It crashes Firefox and IE for me too! I'm soooo tired of restarting everything when this happens. (It's happened 3 or 4 times today alone!) Hopefully this will be fixed soon because it's driving me nuts!

It has been removed from the footer. You can access the chatroom by clicking the "chat" button at the top of the page.
