Maybe you could orginise your own show! ;D I mean, surely there are other gerbil people nearby? I bet if you got a few people to help out you could have a great time

There's no shows in BC, heck i don't belive there are any in Canada. If there were some in Northern Washington, i would head out to them, but it seems most gerbil shows are an airplane flight away

Scotland have their own society and shows. Try contacting Wolfie on Eddies forum shes right up in Caithness and she has more shows going on than we have in the UK. Heres her website she has probably got contact details on there. I got my two bushy tailed jirds from her ;-) www.kindredgerbils.com/main.htmAndrea

Ritzieann and I have been talking about getting a show together next summer at the Lynden, WA Agricultural Fair (not sure I know the exact name) they have in August every year. She'd do the fair liason and help with organizing and I'd come down and judge. Andrea, I'm sure you'd be interested, and maybe rope in a few gerbilly friends? I know a couple of breeders that might be interested in attending/entering.

I think running your own [competitive] show is a little ambitious to begin with. A good option is to form an informal 'club' of local people (local gerbil peeps or even local small furries peeps). Arrange to meet regularly (maybe every month?). You could meet at alternate members homes, a local venue such as a bar with an 'events' room, or some other mutually acceptable place. Do have a few informal rules (no sick animals, any sales to be arranged in advance etc) and I would recommend alcohol hand rub (such as they use in hospitals) to be used between handling different peoples aniamls. This is because some of the worst illnesses that can affect small animals are 'invisible', they are spread through carriers who are themselves immune and symptonless. If your club takes off you can then look to become more formal or join/become affiliated with bigger organisations.
