As some of you may know my gerbil is going to have babies and at the moment they live in a large three storey cage and it doesnt seem to bother them as they dont bite the bars but i feels i need something different. I have heard alot about hamster dunas what do they look like and are they suitable. I was thinking of getting a tank thats 27 pounds but what size do i need. And could someone post a picture of a 20 gallon tank because where i am getting the tank from doesnt show how many gallons. thanx

You don't want the mom giving birth in a cage with levels. She could kick the little ones out of the nest, and they could fall to the ground. I definately would get an aquarium. I don't have a pic of a 20 gallon, but here is my 27 gallon:

There are other posts that include pictures of hamster dunas. Andrea has several. Check under "show me your set up" in this category. You will get creative ideas on set ups.

if you forget to put the water bottle back they chew around it larger dunas also have notches to allow a hayrack, cover thise with metal plates or washers attached with silicon sealer or heat gun glue Always have some mesh available to cover holes
