hi i am breeding a lcp slate or cp slate with a lilac. there pups so far have been slate and black after 1 litter. the only genetics i know are that lilac has recessive g. i want to know if the cp slate lcp slate has recessive p or not. you see, the parents are both siamese and so i imagine she does have recessives cos how else would they have had a cp slate or lcp slate. down the line, a greaat gandparent of or grandparent or even further back was a burmesae. maybe this caused it. so, ???does she have recessive p and therefore able to have sapphire and rew pups. please tell me! do siamese parents have anything to with it? ask if this doesn't make sense. please reply asap. thanks!

All ancestors of a gerbil do anything! The more you know about the genetics of the parents, grandparents, etc, the more you can tell on the genetics of your gerbils.
If you have had several litters and no pups has red eyes, than the slate gerbil probably won't have Pp!
The only way to be sure what recessive genes your gerbils have is to cross them with other colours, or if possible with a C-seperator (a gerbil with aa CC ee gg pp spsp).
