Is there a web sight that has pics of the different colors and markings? I have a dozen gerbils, and the only one I'm sure about is the black one. I have some very pretty gerbs...but I don't know what color they are. LOL

The third pic along isn't mottled thats a pied black, he may even just be a spotted black as the collar isn't complete. Heres a mottled black

I forget where (not sure if it was here or AGS webring), but it said that patched gerbils are ones that have the head spot and neck spot but not a full collar. So I would call your gerbil a black patched. (Not to be confused with dark patched which has spots even darker than the rest of the body)

Hiya, Yes when talking of dark patched gerbils the patching is refering to a splodge of darker fur than the main - not the white The gerbil to the far right is " dark patched pied slate" cos he has a darker bottom, but also has the pied collar. I am quite sure that patched gerbil for refering to a white marking is not used by NGS standards - unsure of AGS standard though as not yet a member

Ummm...looks to me like Black Eyed White, Colourpoint Slate, and Spotted Black or Slate (can't really see the shade but assume Black in the absence of a closer/clearer picture).

Even after seeing pics and reading about the colors I'm still confused. Too much information at one time make brain hurt.....duh. I'll bet if I put a pic of all 12 of them on here there would be 78 different opinions on what color they are.
