Ok. So I have burkie, my female Siamese. She is considerably smaller than my black female, Rody. They are approximately the same age, maybe a week or 2 in difference. Now that Burkies nose is healed, she has started to grow a bit but not too much. Are female Siamese usually smaller than other gerbils?

No, but there is quite a bit of variation between gerbils. She might just be a smaller gerbil. Also in gerbil pups' age even a week or 2 can be quite a difference in size. If you make sure they are getting lots to eat (even sunflower seeds because they are still pups) they should grow up just fine.

I have two males born on the same day, but Sterling is much MUCH smaller than Paws. Dont worry. How old is Burkie?

I have no idea what the norm is, but I have a female siamese and she is absolutely tiny. I'm actually rather afraid to breed her because of it! She's pretty and well-formed, just very small.

ok the weight of an adult female mongolian is 60 to 80g if shes below that then maybe breeding from her is unwise This assumes an adult though..if shes not full grown she may be lighter I hope that helps

I don't breed gerbils and I'm not planning to.

fair enough ryan but you have to admit for a prospective breeder to consider such issues as the size of the female is both sensible and responsible refreshing after some of the posts i've seen in other forums

I've mentioned this before, but my colourpoint females (siamese and cp slate) were tiny and my colourpoint males (siamese and burmese) are *huge*. I'm not quite sure why.
