Hi, in this site you'll see a picture of a dove gerbil www.agsgerbils.org/Color_Strip/lilac.htmlAnd Breeding and Golden agouti AA CC DD EE GG PP with a Dove aa Cch DD EE GG pp you'll have all agouti pups, all with Aa Pp and 1/4 of the litter with Cch But if the Agouti has : -Aa instead of AA you'll have black and agouti pups . -Pp instead of PP, you'll have Agouti, Argente golden, and Argente Cream -Aa and Pp instead of AA and PP you'll have, Agouti, Argente Golden, Argente Cream, Black, lilac and Dove pups. If both gerbils have Ee instead of EE you'll have Agouti, Dark Eyed Honey and Lt. DEH pups but if also the agouti has: -Aa instead of AA, you'll have all the colour I said for that case and nutmeg and Lt nutmeg - Pp instead of PP you'll have all the colour I said for that case and Lt DEH, LT. Yellow fox, yellow fox, and deh. -Aa and Pp instead of AA and PP you'll have all the colour I said for that case and Yellow fox, DEH, nutmeg, red fox, and the Lightened types too. Well, I hope that you could understand something

His stomach and tail are the same colour as his back and he has red eyes. But he is a really light grey any suggestions as to what he is?

I think he is a red eyed silver nutmeg or a dove, the AGS pictures are a little dark... if you can, try to take some pics, and we could be more sure. Do you know the colors of the parents?

no i am not sure what the parents were. what does a red eyed silver nutmeg look like? Some of the dove pictures look like him but then others are just way too dark. Sorry i cant get a picture the cameras broke its gone to be fixed and i have no idea when it will be done.

I really doubt it is a red-eyed silver nutmeg just because he came from a petstore. I agree with Raven, probably a dove or sapphire. Without seeing the gerbil next to a lilac, it is almost impossible to tell if it is a dove or sapphire. You'll just have to wait and see what colour the pups are.

Why not a Red eyed silver nutmeg in a pet store?

Well just statistically, it more likely that her gerbil is aa pp, rather than aa ee gg pp. The g gene is still quite rare in the US, so it is unlikely that she found that combination in a petstore. It is possible, but it's more likely that the gerbil is lilac, dove or sapphire.
