Indeed a very nice pup! Do you also breed specially for a specific type of spotting?

so are you tring to increase the mottling to acheive the mottleing standard?? I think I am going to concentrate on argentes and on mottleds for now. but there are so many lovely colours................... so hard to concentrate on just one or two don't you think? and it will be a few generations before I reach the 70% white of the mottled standard (if ever, its not an easy thing to get nice mottled by all accounts)

Wow, Sandy, you are working with a lot of different stuff right now. That's very cool. Are you going to try and isolate gg now that you have those new pups? If I ever go to Vancouver, I could bring you some ee pups (my partner has family in Vancouver). That is after I move to Saskatoon, however. I really like the idea of establishing the genes in the Western provinces!

Peter, I'm not aiming for mottled in that particular pair, it just popped up that way! Doom, the 70% white is a UK standard only, as far as I know, in North America one like mine is called mottled, and then there are super mottled or extreme mottled etc. Here in BC even this degree of mottling is very rare.
Tell you the truth, I don't really like the super mottled where the original colour is so messed up with the white you can't even tell what it was! My aim is for a a nice "checkerboard" or marbling mottling effect where the original colour is good and intense but there is a lot of even, overall white dappling. That's just my preference.
Anyways, this pair I just wanted some nice pied argentes and lilacs in a nice intense colour with not a lot of spotting dilution.
I had hoped for some mottled pups out of my Tamihi (black dutch pied, that is, collared and full stripe) and Milky Way, the mottled gerbil pup in my sig that is now a very big fella. Unfortunately they haven't had any yet and don't seem to be getting on with things, wink, wink. Sigh...maybe a diet would help.
Yes, Queenofthenile, I am trying to get all the genes established here in BC. I have a pregnant Aa Pp DEH coming to me next month, impregnated by an Aa Pp DEH so she should have a nice litter with a good mix of ee recessive types. However, should you be dropping by in the future, I'd love a pregnant female schimmel if you can locate one for me, or a nice male or a pair?
And yes I'm going to work with gg from Devon's (Crazycritters) lcpt pups but actually I'm not that crazy about the pure gg strain colours so will work on breeding an aa gg colourpoint recessive line.
Specifically I'm breeding for a Colourpoint Slate and Gg Siamese pair to give me a good mix of aa colourpoints in the pups. I guess its the New Year and time to talk about goals...

Wow and what goals they are. How many litters do you have? How do you place all the pups? I am having a time with just placing 11 pups!
I think one of mine is an CP Slate. I am going to Toronto in August. If one of MB's second litter is a CP sould you like it? I have a male now and no telling what the second litter might bring.

Sure, I'd like that, especially a colourpoint slate if you can get one. Maybe we can do a trade--I'll send you pictures of what I've got available closer to the time, or if you have anything special in mind I can keep it for you until then (for example, every once in a while I get a really nice mottled pup crop up, or a Burmese). New blood for outcrossing is always a good thing, I say. I have 4 litters this month, which is a bit high for me, but I have clients come for the pups and I also do supply a couple of pet stores around here as there are not a lot of gerbil breeders in this area. I have a web page and quite a few people come from quite far away to get my pups, its amazing!
